Harold Lloyd was an American actor, comedian, and stunt performer. He was a legendary star of silent movies. His films include the silents Safety Last!, The Old Monk’s Tale, From Hand to Mouth, Captain Kidd’s Kids, Grandma’s Boy, Why Worry?, Girl Shy, The Freshman, The Kid Brother, Speedy, and then, making the transition to talkies, Welcome Danger, Feet First, Movie Crazy, The Cat’s-Paw, The Milky Way, Professor Beware, and The Sin of Harold Diddlebock.

Harold was the son of Sarah Elisabeth/Elizabeth (Fraser) and James Darsie Lloyd. He was raised partly in San Diego, California. He was married to actress Mildred Davis, until her death, with whom he had three children, including actor and singer Harold Lloyd, Jr. Mildred appeared in many of his films.

Harold’s paternal grandfather was named Stephen Lloyd (the son of Stephen Lloyd and Catherine). Harold’s grandfather Stephen was born in Pennsylvania, to a Welsh-born father.

Harold’s paternal grandmother was Phoebe Jane Lloyd (the daughter of John Lloyd and Jane Vaughn). Phoebe was born in Pennsylvania, to Welsh parents.

Harold’s maternal grandfather was named James Fraser (the son of Mary Ann).
