Fernando Collor is a Brazilian politician. A member of the Party of the National Reconstruction, he served as President of Brazil, from 15 March, 1990 to 29 December, 1992. He was also the 57th Mayor of Maceio, from January 1, 1979 to January 1, 1983, and the 55th Governor of Alagoas, from March 15, 1987 to May 14, 1989, among other duties.
President Collor is the son of Leda (Collor) and Arnon Affonso de Farias Mello. His maternal grandfather was of German descent. The rest of President Collor’s ancestry is Portuguese-Brazilian, and possibly other.
