Emma’s maternal grandmother was born in Texas, the daughter of William Thomas Paulk and Vera Elizabeth Deason. William was born in Farmersville, Texas, the son of Thomas Aaron Paulk, who was from Chambers County, Alabama, and of Emily Florence Dorton. Vera was born in Panola County, Texas, the daughter of Charles Leon Deason and Willie Pearl Osborne.

      Not particularly. It almost always originates from England (mire/myrr) and Ireland (O’Meidhir). Extremely few Germans are named Myer/Myers compared to Mayer/Meyer/Maier/Meier and such.

      With the obvious caveat that this doesn’t mean it’s not an Americanization in this instance though.

    Emma’s maternal grandmother is the daughter of William Thomas Paulk and Vera Elizabeth Deason. William was born in Farmersville, Texas to Thomas Aaron Paulk and Emily Florence Dorton. Thomas was born in Chambers County, Alabama and Emily was born in Copper Creek, Virginia. Vera was born in Panola County, Texas to Charles Leon Deason and Willie Pearl Osborne. Charles was born in Brachfield, Texas and Willie was born in Minden, Texas.
