Her father is from South Africa. Her mother is from New Zealand. Some sources state that she is Jewish.

Emma’s paternal grandfather was Stelios/Stelious/Stel Lahana (the son of Simos “Simon” Lahana/Lahanas and Melpomeni Prokopiou). Stelios was born in South Africa, to parents from Mytilene, Lesbos, Greece. The name Lahana in Greece is often of Sephardi Jewish origin. Melpomeni was the daughter of Prokopious Prokopiou and Caliopy.

Emma’s paternal grandmother was Thelma Mabel Jones (the daughter of Stanley Jones and Lillian “Lily” Summerton). Thelma was born in South Africa. Stanley was born in Grimsby, England. Lillian was born in Transvaal, South Africa.
