Nel is her mother’s maiden name. Steenkamp is the name of her stepfather Johan.
Thank you!
Then, let’s add French as part of her Afrikaner ethnicity.
The name exists in the Netherlands.
Because they might descend from Huguenots who moved there in the 1500s. Like all the Nel of South Africa, she descends from Guillaume Néel, born c. 1663, in Quevilly, Rouen, Normandie, France, and to his wife Jeanne de la Batte, who was also a French Huguenot.

About Afrikaners who are known by initials, I forgot this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP_Nel

An interesting map which displays the geographical origin of all the common Afrikaner surnames of French Huguenot origin.
Demi-Leigh is most likely related to W.P. Nel.
I think it’s interesting how some Afrikaners technically have more French ancestry than Dutch and still identify their ancestors are Dutch. But Demi-Leigh probably has a lot of Dutch ancestry from her father’s side.

> Demi-Leigh is most likely related to W.P. Nel
_ Yes, all the Nel of South Africa/Namibia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nel_(name) descend from Guillaume Néel, so they’re cousins of some degree
> I think it’s interesting how some Afrikaners technically have more French ancestry than Dutch and still identify their ancestors are Dutch.
_ Who do identify them as Dutch? Maybe Follers or ethnic, I dunno. Many Afrikaners keep naming their children with French names like François, Jean, Jacques or Pierre, drink wine and celebrates Bastille Day every year. They didn’t forget their roots
> Demi-Leigh probably has a lot of Dutch ancestry from her father’s side.
Of course, along with German and little other stuff, like all the Afrikaners whose family has lived there in the past 350 years

Demi looks so exotic that some Internet user asked if she was part Filipino.
Her biological parents are the first man from the left and the chubby lady: https://inm-baobab-prod-eu-west-1.s3.amazonaws.com/public/inm/media/image/94263449.JPG
Her parents don’t look exotic, but she does.
Do you have any photo of her?
we do now!
I think her eyes are brown.
Someone posted fake news about her Filipino ethnicity in Facebook. So, don’t trust that.
The only thing we can expand her ancestry is to find her parents’ baptismal records which might be available online. These are the clues based on a verified news source: her father was born around 1964 while her mother was born around 1961. Marriage records on or earlier than the 1960’s are useless unless we can trace her grandparents’ names.
Try searching the following places: “Knysna” (I have already cleared that and nothing found) & “Vanderbijlpark” (I am too unclear of this if I found her father’s baptismal record)
She is probably a typical Afrikaner: Dutch, German, French, Belgian (Walloon and/or Flemish) with distant African, Indian, Indonesian, possibly Chinese, Bengali, some sort of Scandinavian, etc.
It is for that reason and others that I find Afrikaners to be the least interesting ethnic group on Earth.
Because they have ancestry from multiple regions on 3 continents? Europe, Africa, Asia?
“Nel” surname is of French Huguenot origin
