Daniel Murphy is an American professional baseball player. A second baseman and first baseman, he played for the New York Mets, the Washington Nationals, and the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB).

His brother, Jonathan Murphy, has also played professional baseball. Daniel is married to Victoria “Tori” Ahern, with whom he has three children. Daniel is a devout Christian.

Daniel’s maternal grandfather was named Darrell Brown.

Daniel’s maternal grandmother was named Patricia “Pat” Short (the daughter of Harold Short and Mildred). Patricia was born in Kentucky.
