Chris Sununu is an American politician, businessperson, and engineer. A Republican, he has served as Governor of New Hampshire, since January 5, 2017.
Chris is the son of Nancy and John H. Sununu, a politician, who was Governor of New Hampshire, from January 6, 1983 to January 4, 1989, and White House Chief of Staff, from January 20, 1989 to December 15, 1991, among other duties. Chris’s father was born on Havana, Cuba, while his own father was there on a business trip, and was raised in New York, U.S.; his father speaks Spanish fluently. Chris’s paternal family was of the Orthodox religion, with Arab roots in Jerusalem and Beirut, and one quarter Greek ancestry.
Chris’s brother is politician John E. Sununu (John Edward Sununu), who was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New Hampshire, from 1997 to 2003, and a U.S. Senator from New Hampshire, from 2003 to 2009.
Chris is married to Valerie, with whom he has three children.
Chris’s paternal grandfather was John Saleh Sununu (the son of Thomas/Tanas Sununu/Sununuhajjar and Julia Johariah/Goohariah). John was an international film distributor. He was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, U.S., to Palestinian parents.
Chris’s paternal grandmother was Victoria Dada Basiliadis (the daughter of Miguel Jorge Dada Tadros and Isabel/Elisabeta Vasiliadis/Basiliadis). Victoria was born in San Vicente, El Salvador. Miguel was the son of Jorge Dada and Justini Tadros. Isabel was born in Athens, Greece.
