Charles Krauthammer, MD, was an American Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist, author, political commentator, and physician.

His parents were both Jewish. His father, Shulim Krauthammer, was from Galicia, Poland. His mother, Thea (Horowitz), was from Antwerp, Belgium. Charles was married to Robyn, a lawyer, until his death. The couple had a son.

Charles’s paternal grandfather was named Naphtali Samuel Krauthammer (the son of Israel Krauthammer).

Charles’s paternal grandmother was named Chaje Konigsberg (whose mother’s maiden name was Thalenfeld).

Charles’s maternal grandfather was Meshullam/Meschulem Issachar Horowitz (the son of Michael HaLevi Horowitz and Malka Schuller). Meshullam was born in Přerov, Přerov District, Olomouc Region, Czech Republic, to a father from Krakow, Poland and a mother from Mielec, Poland. Michael was the son of Haim Aryeh Leib Horowitz and Tziporah Cypres.

Charles’s maternal grandmother was Mina Geldzahler (the daughter of Meilech/Melech Geldzahler and a woman surnamed Ingber). Mina was born in Antwerp, Belgium. Meilech was born in Kolbuszowa, Kolbuszowa County, Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Poland, the son of David Geldzahler and Chanah Mindel Fisch/Ehrenman. Mina’s maternal grandparents were Solomon Ingber and Matel.
