Cameron Diaz is an American actress, model, entrepreneur, producer, and author. Her roles include The Mask, The Last Supper, My Best Friend’s Wedding, There’s Something About Mary, In Her Shoes, Shrek, Vanilla Sky, The Counselor, and Charlie’s Angels and its sequel.

Cameron is the daughter of Billie, an import/export agent, and Emilio Diaz, an oil company foreman. Cameron is married to musician Benji Madden, with whom she has two children.

Cameron’s paternal grandparents were of Cuban descent [with Spanish, including Asturian, ancestry]; her father also had one eighth Spanish-Venezuelan ancestry. Cameron’s mother has English, Scottish, Irish, and German ancestry. Cameron has also stated that she has Native American ancestry on her mother’s side (sometimes specified as Cherokee Native American). It is not clear if this ancestry has been verified/documented. There are no Native American ancestors, Cherokee or otherwise, in Cameron’s mother’s recent and relatively recent family tree.

Cameron’s paternal grandfather was Emilio Cadiz Diaz Jr. (the son of Emilio F. “El Gato” Díaz and Joaquina “Queenie” Cabranes Cádiz). Cameron’s grandfather Emilio was born in Tampa, Florida. Cameron’s great-grandfather Emilio was a Cuban emigrant, from Havana. Joaquina was also a Cuban emigrant, and was the daughter of a man surnamed Cabranes, and of a Venezuelan emigrant, Antonia Cádiz Sánchez, who was of Spanish descent.

Cameron’s paternal grandmother was Gertrudes Lavin (the daughter of Luis Lavín García and Mercedes Duarte Alonso). Gertrudes was born in Florida. Luis was born in Cuba, to a Spanish-born father, Francisco Felipe Lavín, and a Cuban-born mother, Gertrudes García. Mercedes was also born in Cuba, also to a Spanish-born father, Manuel Duarte, and a Cuban-born mother, Mercedes Alonso.

Cameron’s maternal grandfather was William Marion Early (the son of John Winchester Early and Chloe Kendall Allen). William was born in Missouri. John was the son of William Robin Early and Emma Rozella Fusselman. Chloe was the daughter of Charles Marion Allen and Catherine Delcina/Della Babb.

Joseph was born in Kingston, Frontenac, Ontario, Canada, the son of Joseph Waddingham, who was born in North Cave, Yorkshire, England, and of Frances Anna Kels/Kells, who was born in Templeport Parish, County Caven, Ireland. Cameron’s great-grandmother Elizabeth was born in Illinois, to an English father, Richard James Withers, and a mother from Missouri, Nancy/Nannie S. Scott.

    She’s also dutch, wikipedia says so.

  2. Jo says:

    Funny, her looks remind me of Zoe Saldana’s… and she is also part Latina too. Cameron is called classic whereas Zoe is called exotic (and she isn’t really) despite how similar they look, at least in smile and eye shape. I hate how white girls aren’t allowed to be exotic even when their features clearly are, but ethnic = always exotic even when THEIR looks are clearly exotic. -_-

  3. Rose says:

    She’s a Heinz 57!

  4. averagejoe says:

    I heard somewhere she was part Italian on her father’s side? well I better google it.

  5. amber says:

    “spanish are caucasian” lol, half (if not most, putting aside the haitians and bolivians) of the latinamerican people are caucasian too. just because some of them are just a little bit tanned doesn’t mean anything. being latinamerican is not a race, it’s an ethnicity , being japanese, indian, black, those are races, (and ethnicities obviously) let’s say if an english man has kids with an indian woman, the kids will look very much mixed, but if an english man has kids with a mexican, argentinian, whatever latin country you think of, the kid will not even look mixed, cause the kid will have a mix of ethnicities and NOT races. Gosh USA people are so ignorant thanks to that hollywood crap, they make all their citizens think that latinamerican people should look exactly like salma hayek, dark, curvy and with an ugly accent.

      and please, fuzzybear do not reply to this comment, I’m begging you, I’m really tired of your stupid comments.

      • Wtf says:

        @amber

        every comment he’s made are far more intelligent than anything you just wrote.

      • 411 says:

        @Amber

        Well sweetie,what fuzzy wrote about caucasian was right,it doesn’t mean your white.So the stuff you wrote was stupid.I actually check most of what he wrote,and so far he hasn’t lied.He does say to prove him wrong, but you didn’t do that

      • buck says:

        Amber your not to bright.If didn’t want fuzzy to say anything,you shouldn’t have mention his name.Then you call him stupid,that was not smart at all

      • Fuzzybear says:

        To Amber

        What is this grade school,you pick out then insult me,and then tell me not to reply.I usually wouldn’t do this with a girl,but how stupid are you.I might have bypass you if you hadn’t called me out.It’s painfully obvious that I’m not the only one who would disagree with that stupid junk you wrote.Also now that I’ve read it,I see why the rest of them said it was dumb.Also what are you built like a flat piece of wood,hating on Salma.Sounds to me like your just jealous,she has the body you want.Next time do yourself favor and don’t put me in the comment.Also if you don’t like what I have to say bypass it,it just that simple

        • Catherine W. says:

          If she was dissing Salma then that’s a BIG NO.

          But I do understand what she’s saying HISPANIC is NOT a RACE and people need to STOP feeding into these STUPID RACIST STEREOTYPES THEY HAVE BUILT.

          There are Black Latinos, WHITE latinos, NATIVE Latinos, ASIAN latinos, and of course we have our MESTIZOS who are mixed with Ameri-Indian and White

          You need to get better educated.

    • just a jealous child says:

      @amber

      poor little girl jealous of salma,with that hot body of hers

    • Anonymous says:

      Amber, Japanese is not a race. It is a ethnicity as well. The Japanese are Mongoloid racially.

      And while there are many Latin Americans who are Caucasian, as you say, there are also many who are not. Zoe Saldana is Latin American, and I would not say she is Caucasian. I would not say George Lopez is Caucasian either. There are multiple different races in Latin America.

      • Catherine W. says:

        Zoe Zaldana is actually BLACK
        meaning her RACE is BLACK and her ethnicity is DOMINICAN.. get it? she’s a BLACK DOMINICAN… a BLACK LATINO

        George Lopez is MESTIZO
        meaning he’s of MIXED RACE: White, Black, Native & Asian
        meaning his race is MESTIZO and his ethnicity is MEXICAN… so he’s a MEXICAN MESTIZO

        it just proves my point…HISPANIC isn’t a RACE and you can have VERY different looks. WHITE BLACK RED ASIAN etc.

    • iwas says:

      @amber

      you have to be young,Please tell me and adult can’t be as dumb as you are.Oh please don’t reply back I’m begging you,I’ve already seen enough of your stupid comments

    • Shamshir says:

      What type of Indian ? Amer-Indian(like Cherokee or other) or Indian from India ? Because Indians from India are Caucasians.Caucasians can range from being very pale,pinkish to dark brown.Caucasians inhabit : Europe,Maghreb(North African countries like Morocco,Algeria,Tunisia,Egypt,Libya…),Middle East,West Asia(Arabs,Jews,Assyrians,Chaldeans,Kurds,Turks…),Central Asia(Afghans…) and Southern Asians(Indians,Pakistanis,Sri LankansBangladeshis).

      I didn’t count the Americas because the natives of the Americas aren’t Caucasian.But now (due to migration,colnisation…) the Americas are mainly inhabited by Caucasians.

      • ava says:

        @shamshir
        judging by your name, im guessing you’re east indian?
        and you’re wrong indian people are not just caucasian, they are black and mongoloid too, indians are always looking down on black people when they have african ancestry themselves, i’ve met some indians that look east asian, and others look black and some look full european.

        • Marco says:

          You are wrong, Ava. Do a little research and you’ll find that caucasian meas white almost only in US. Causasian is a wide range of ethnicities that also encompass North Africans, including Arabs, and part of the India population too.

      • Mercy says:

        @Shamshir

        It has been shown that Caucasian just means a bone structure or phenotype.It doesn’t really mean color of skin,any color can be Caucasian.Also people of India aren’t only Caucasian,and they only just started calling the people of North Africa Caucasian in what the last 40yrs I think

      • Marta Paglianni says:

        Sorry Shamshir you probably want to be white, is ok dont worry, but you are NO. Indians from India are not caucasians at all. Only folks from europe or descendants.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_people

        Read it all here or just google the white race.

    • lili says:

      @Amber
      I totally agree with you, this people need to get out of the country and travel a little to realize that we dont all look like the Hollywood depictions of latinos
      Look at poor Sofia Vergara who is white latina and had to get tanned and dye her hair to get parts in Hollywood.
      Travel a little people! 85 to 90% of cubans are of Spanish descent since Cuba was colonized by the Spaniards from the 15th century to the 19th so yes we are mostly of European descent

      • wow says:

        I’ve been studying cuba,and from what I’ve seen,it more black cuba than white.Also it was more so in the pass.Also white skin as you put it,doesn’t mean that all that you are.You need to learn more.

        • lili says:

          You mean the past, you are obviously ignorant and need to educate yourself a little more, by the way just because some cubans are black that does not mean that they are not mixed, most Cubans that are dark are actually mulattoes a mix of Spanish and black african slaves… just a little history for you..
          and as far as your statement that most cubans are black, I don’t know if I should acknowledge that… we are extremely mixed.

          • cori_o says:

            sorry to burst your bubble but if you were or had any cubano flowing through your blood sapingo then you would know that society looks at any person having at least 1% of african blood flowing in their veins is indeed a black= african if you believe me look it up. Its called the one drop rule and as bad as that is guess who came up with this rule???! sooo….to enlighten you on history sweetie cuba is mostly mulatto but i guess that would mean that they are black? am i right? lol. when my grandfather and full afrocubana grandmother= all black born and raise in cuba,came to america from cuba he was looked at as an african american white ppl could careless about him being half spaniard and just like him my family as every other cuban that has african background has gone through the same thing themselves. which is why we are reffered to as afrocuban these days or brown people because we do have color and are african descent. we know about our slave ancestors and the torture they went through and there for know our true background. we are the rhythm and back bone of cuba you can believe that! all and all there are white cubans and black cubans but no matter how you look at it we at the end of the day we are all cuban and thats all we see, and americans should be the same way but the more things change the more they stay the same.

      • Catherine W. says:

        I couldn’t agree more. Even though it seems like they are finally letting her be “herself” because she is looking whiter in the new season of Modern Family. Her natural hair color is actually blonde and I used to watch her all the time back in the 90’s when she did this traveling show with another WHITE (wow, crazy to think Hispanics are white, no? *major eye roll*) actor and they were so funny…but anyway she looked soo much better with blonde hair.

        • Yeah okay says:

          Still having esteem issue Catherine W. You always say “we need to get over racist stuff,” but yet you are always quick to point out who is a white latino. If Sofia considered herself white, why does she constantly call herself a Latina. She could be neutral like Gisele Bundchen and other actresses from Portuguese and Spanish speaking countries and stay mum on the issue of race. I wonder if you and Rafael are the same person sometimes. You only have a problem when it comes to black lineage. NO other lineage gets you going as much.

          And so what if she has blonde hair. There are, wait for it…black people in Africa with blonde hair and blue eyes.

          Sofia is hot, but by God you and I both know that there are prettier multi-racial Latinas out there with a better waist to hip ratio than her who will NEVER be given the same opportunities as her. You see them all the time in the rap videos. So boohoo to her that she has to change her hair color for roles.

          • Selene-The-Immortal says:

            Latino/Hispanic has nothing to do with race. If you come from Latin America, no matter what your race is, you are Latino. There is nothing wrong with identifying by a cultural term instead of a racial term. In Latin America, they mainly identify by their natonality (Mexican, Cuban, Argentinian, Brazilian, Chilean, Puerto Rican, etc) and not by their race, which is what The United States likes for its people to identify as.

          • Yeah okay says:

            I hear you. I was responding to Catherine W who insists that Sofia Vergara must be fully white because she has blonde hair (when studies in Colombia has showed that even the whitest of Colombians have African Ancestry). I am only saying that there is extensive mixing in Latin America, that is why they only mention where they are from and not race necessarily. That is why you have people of all different shades/races dating eachother in Latin America (especially in Brazil and Puerto Rico- they think nothing of it) compared to America.

          • Marta Paglianni says:

            What studies are you talking about? Do you have proof of that? Many Colombians are just White, and blacks and mix. And Argentina as a nation is more European than the USA!!

          • Styx says:

            All people have African ancestry if you go back far enough. Africa was the cradle of humanity for Christ sakes.

          • Selene-The-Immortal says:

            And yes, there are prettier multi-racial, black, and white latinas than Sofia. She’s pretty, but there is better out there.

    • Catherine W. says:

      Thank you for this VERY intelligent reply. I am surprised you have such negative ratings on it.

      People are VERY ignorant and WILL ALWAYS and FOREVER think “Latin Americans/Hispanics” are a race.
      Somehow their brains can’t grasp the idea that you CAN BE TANNED with BROWN HAIR and BROWN EYES and STILL BE WHITE.

      Being HISPANIC IS NOT A RACE, people. Get some education!!

      • chicana says:

        @CATHERINE W., LOOK ARE YOU WHITE? BECUZ. YOU TALK LIKE A WHITE GIRL. POINT BLAKE IS WHITE IS WHITE. HISPANICS ARE A MIXTURE OF RACES WHICH MAKES US BEAUTIFUL. IF I WAS TO WALK DOWN THE STREET NEXT TO YOU. DO YOU THINK THAT PEOPLE WOULD LOOK AT US AS BEING RELATED? NO THEY WOULD SAY ” THERE GOES A WHITE GIRL WALKING WITH A HISPANIC GIRL” . BELIEVE ME I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY, BUT GET OVER IT! I AM NOT ASHAMED OF BEING KNOWN AS A LATINO. I AM PROUD OF WHOM I AM!! WHITE PEOPLE STARTED ALL THIS, GET OVER IT PLEASE!! WE ARE HERE TO STAY AND THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO NOR ANY WHITE PERSON DO ABOUT IT!! …

        • Styx says:

          Chicana,
          If a black person has the last name O’Malley they ould not be considered Irish… He would be considered black. If he was born in Ireland then yes his nationality would be Irish… but he would still be a black man. He could even have a mix of ethnicities but he would still be black and there is nothing wrong with that. Same goes for Cameron Diaz. She may have a Spanish last name and she may be a Heinz 57 of ethnicities but you cannot deny that she is white. If Cameron cannot consider herself white then no one in Scandinavia can! LOL!

        • marjanel says:

          If you are so proud of being mixed, calling you Latino or hispanic is whitewashing you. Your white heritage is what makes you Latina and hispanic. Only in USA you would be the hispanic girl. In Latin America nobody would tell you that. Because that “hispanic look” is an American invention. In Latín America, people is very diverse. Also, that look that makes people saying that you are hispanic and different to the white girl are not hispanic at all. First of all, Spaniards are hispanic, so saying that all hispanics are mixed is wrong.

      • Marta Paglianni says:

        George Cloony is brown, no tanned but brown, very dark eyes and dark hair. SO why is he considered white?

    • anakaterina says:

      Spanish are from Spain, you’re comment is stupid. Nice tru on trying to whiten Latin America when most are not caucasian but mixed with native American and European

      • marjanel says:

        Latin America is just a large region, many countries, half billion people. I don’t see people lumping together all countries that speak English in the Americas, why America’s want to do the same which ones that speak Latin derivated languages? , it is nonsense. I don’t see people saying,all Anglophones are white, black, etc
