Bob Uecker is an American professional baseball broadcaster, player, and actor. He was a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). His acting roles include George Owens on Mr. Belvedere and play-by-play announcer Harry Doyle in the Major League films.
Bob is the son of Mary and August Gustav Uecker. His father was a Swiss-German emigrant, from Basel, Basel-Stadt. His mother was born in Michigan, and had German and Irish ancestry. Bob has four children with his former wife Joyce Irene Jahn.
Bob’s maternal grandfather was George Anton Schultz (the son of George Schultz and Katherine Bock). Bob’s grandfather George was born in Michigan, to German parents.
Bob’s maternal grandmother was named Mary J. Driscoll (the daughter of Julia Driscoll). Mary was born in Michigan.
