Bill Gadsby was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He was a defenseman, who spent his National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, and Detroit Red Wings. He was the son of Elizabeth and William Henry Gadsby. His father was born in Southport, Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Merseyside, England, and came to Calgary in 1912.

Bill’s maternal grandfather was Henry Faulkner (the son of Samuel Faulkner and Ann Ogden).

Bill’s maternal grandmother was Emily Shore (the daughter of William Shore and Ann Massey).
