Ben Edlund is an American cartoonist, screenwriter, television producer, and television director. He created superhero The Tick, originally a newsletter mascot for New England Comics. He created and wrote for The Tick: The Animated Series, the sitcom The Tick (2001), and the series The Tick (2016), and was a writer for the series Firefly, Angel, Point Pleasant, Supernatural, which he also directed episodes of; Revolution (2013), and Gotham. He also co-wrote the films A, B, C… Manhattan and Titan A.E.

Ben’s paternal grandfather was Ralph Leslie Edlund (the son of Charles Frederick Edlund and Margaret Irene Stronach/Brehaut). Ralph was born in Massachusetts. Charles was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada, the son of Charles F. Edlund, who was Swedish, and of Isabella Harrington, who was Canadian. Margaret was born in Massachusetts, to parents from Canada, Charles T. Stronach and Charlotte Brehaut.

Ben’s paternal grandmother was Anna Augusta Schultz (the daughter of Ernst/Ernest Louis Schultz and Doris Edna Savage). Anna was born in Massachusetts.
