Artur Mas is a Spanish politician and Catalan nationalist. He served as President of the Government of Catalonia, from 24 December, 2010 to 11 January, 2016. He has also been First Minister of Catalonia, from 19 January, 2001 to 20 December, 2003, and Leader of the Opposition of Catalonia, from 27 May, 2004 to 23 December, 2010, among other duties.

He is the son of Artur Mas i Barnet and Montserrat Gavarró i Miralles. Artur is married to teacher Helena Rakòsnik i Tomé, with whom he has three children.

Artur’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his eighth great-grandfather, Onofre Mas, of Premià de Dalt, Barcelona.
