Anna Paulina Luna is an American politician and U.S. Air Force veteran. A Republican, she has been a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida, since January 3, 2023.
She is the daughter of Monica Todd, an elementary school teacher, and George Mayerhofer, an architect. She is of mostly Mexican descent, along with German. She was raised in Santa Ana, Irvine, Aliso Viejo, and Los Angeles, all in California. Anna is married to U.S. Air Force combat controller Andrew Gamberzky.
She has stated that she was raised a Messianic Jew by her father, and that she has a “small fraction Ashkenazi” ancestry. Both statements have been disputed by relatives and the press, and appear to be unsubstantiated.
Anna’s paternal grandfather was Heinrich/Henry M. Mayerhofer (the son of Georg Mayerhofer and Anna Metzger). Heinrich was German, born in Emmering, Bavaria, and immigrated to Canada in 1954. He was Catholic. According to Anna’s relatives, Heinrich served in the Wehrmacht, fighting for the Nazis during WWII as a teenager.
Anna’s paternal grandmother was Emma Cardoza (the daughter of Jose Cardoza and Marie Vite). Emma was of Mexican descent.
Anna’s maternal grandfather was the son of William Henry Todd, and of a woman surnamed Mancillas. William was born in Colimas, Mexico, the son of Aurelius Todd and Maria Luisa Urtiz. Anna’s great-great-grandparents were Angel Mancillas and Elana Cervantes.
Anna’s maternal grandmother was the daughter of Antonio Luna.
