Ana Tijoux, full name Anamaría Tijoux Merino, is a French-Chilean rapper, singer, musician, and activist.

Ana was born in Lille, France, to Chilean parents, who left the country after the 1973 coup. Her mother, María Emilia Tijoux, is a sociologist. Her biological father was Douglas Olivares, who was from Iquique, Chile. Ana was adopted by her stepfather Roberto Merino Jorquera. Her family moved to Paris in 1978. She has said in an interview that she did not have a relationship with her biological father.

Ana is married to French musician Jon Grandcamp. She has two children.

Ana has stated:

You have to go by luck when it comes to looking into where you come from. As far as I know, part of my family comes from the north of Chile, the desert, which is a totally different culture. The Aymara.

Ana’s maternal grandfather was named Miguel Fernando Tijoux Jiménez.

    Douglas Olivares was probably of indigenous/native descent.
