Alfonso López Michelsen was a Colombian politician and lawyer. He served as President of Colombia, from 7 August, 1974 to 7 August, 1978.

Alfonso was the son of María Michelsen de López and Alfonso López Pumarejo, who was also President of Colombia, from 31 January, 1886 to 20 November 1959.

Alfonso’s paternal grandfather was Pedro Aquilino López Medina (the son of Ambrosio López Pinzón and María Felisa Medina Morales). Ambrosio was the son of Jerónimo López and Rosa Pinzón. María was the daughter of José Narciso Medina Ramírez and María del Campo/Carmen Morales Hernández.

Alfonso’s paternal grandmother was Rosario Pumarejo Cotes (the daughter of Juan Salvador Sinforoso Pumarejo Quirós and Josefa Marina Cotes de Oñate). Juan was the son of José Domingo Pumarejo Daza and Ciríaca Quirós Daza. Josefa was born in Venezuela, and was the daughter of Silvestre Cotes and Rosario Oñate.

Alfonso’s maternal grandfather was Carlos Michelsen Uribe (the son of Karl Michelsen Koppel and María del Carmen/Carmelita Uribe Ibañez). Karl was born in Nyborg, Denmark, to a Jewish family of Polish Jewish and German Jewish descent, and was the son of Isak Michelsen Koppel and Rosine Koppel. María was the daughter of Miguel Saturnino de Uribe y Uribe Santos and Bernardina Ibañez de Vidal Arias y Rodriguez.

Alfonso’s maternal grandmother was Antonia Lombana Barreneche (the daughter of Cayetano Lombana Buendia and Rosa Antonia Juana María Barreneche Morote/Morato y Munive). Cayetano was the son of Jose Maria Lombana Cuervo and Maria Antonia Buendia Ortiz. Rosa was the daughter of Mariano Barreneche Escobar and Rosa María Morote Munive.
