Joe E. Brown was an American actor and comedian.

Joe was the son of Anna Maria and Mathias Joseph Brown. When he was ten, he joined the circus tumbler troupe Five Marvelous Ashtons. He also played professional baseball. Joe was married to Kathryn Francis McGraw, until his death, with whom he had four children, including front office Major League Baseball executive Joe L. Brown.
