Shirley Jones is an American actress and singer. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Elmer Gantry (1960).
Shirley is the daughter of Marjorie Louise and Paul Livinson Jones, the owners of the Jones Brewing Company. Shirley was married to actor and comedian Marty Ingels, until his death. Shirley has three children, including singer, actor, and producer Shaun Cassidy and actor Patrick Cassidy, with her former husband, actor and singer Jack Cassidy.
Shirley’s paternal grandfather was William Benjamin Jones, Jr. (the son of William Benjamin Jones and Sophia Lulu Galletine/Gallatin). William was born in Pennsylvania, to a Welsh father. Sophia was the daughter of The Rev. John Warrick Gallatin.
Shirley’s paternal grandmother was Louise Jane “Lulu” Dorman (the daughter of Hugh McWilliams and Louise Dorman). Lulu was born in Illinois or Pennsylvania, to a Scottish father and an English mother.
