Dan Fogelman is an American screenwriter and producer. He has created, and written for, the shows The Neighbors, Galavant, Pitch, and This Is Us, directed and written the films Danny Collins and Life Itself (2018), written the films Fred Claus, Tangled, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Guilt Trip, and Last Vegas, and co-written the films Cars and Bolt.
He is married to Caitlin Thompson, with whom he has one child.
Dan’s maternal grandfather was Sydney “Sid” Goldstein (the son of Simon Goldstein and Sadie Lipsky). Sydney was born in New York, to parents from Russia. Simon was the son of Joseph Goldstein.
Dan’s maternal grandmother was Shirley Lewis (the daughter of Michael Lewis and Beadie Jellin). Michael was the son of Simon Lewis (originally Swiatlowski) and Lea Levinsky, who were born in Poland and Russia, respectively. Beadie was the daughter of Samuel Jellin and Lena Goldstein, who were from Russia.
