Richard Marx is an American adult contemporary and pop rock singer and songwriter. He is known for his singles “Don’t Mean Nothing,” “Endless Summer Nights,” and “Hold On to the Nights.”

He is the son of Ruth Jeannette and Dick Marx, a jazz pianist, arranger, and composer. He was raised in Highland Park, Illinois. Richard is married to television host, model, actress, and comedian Daisy Fuentes. He has three children with his former wife, actress, singer, and dancer Cynthia Rhodes.

Richard’s paternal grandfather was Victor Emanuel Marx (the son of Emanuel Marx and Agnes Isaacs). Victor was born in Illinois. Richard’s great-grandfather Emmanuel was a German Jewish emigrant, from Frankfurt, and was the son of Mayer/Meyer Marx and Fanny Reinhard. Agnes’s father, Joseph Isaacs, was a Jewish emigrant from England. Agnes’s mother, Annetta, likely Weis, was an American, who was also Jewish.

Richard’s paternal grandmother was Helen Golden (the daughter of Adolf Golden and Sarah Meserow/Mezerow, later Messer). Helen was born in Illinois, to Ukrainian Jewish emigrants, from Kiev. Sarah was the daughter of Joseph Meserow/Mezerow and Ella Fuchs/Fox.

Richard’s maternal grandfather was Martin Duane Guildoo (the son of Martin Weston/Watson Guildoo and Alice Cevilla/Sevilla Fye). Richard’s grandfather Martin was born in Pennsylvania. Richard’s great-grandfather Martin was the son of Ransom W. Guildoo and Paulina/Pauline “Lina” Spruce. Alice was the daughter of Jacob David Fye and Mary E. Long.

Richard’s maternal grandmother was Lois Martha Herron (the daughter of John Winford/Winfred Herron and Bertha Isabella/Isabel Dailey). Lois was born in Ohio. John was the son of Joseph F. Herron and Sarah Martha Cullison. Bertha was the daughter of John White Dailey and Lillian Dell “Lelia/Lillie” Clark.
