M. Shadows is an American singer and songwriter. He is the lead vocalist, and a founding member, of heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. Other members of the band also include/have included Johnny Christ, Synyster Gates, Arin Ilejay, The Rev, and Zacky Vengeance.

He is the brother of college and professional basketball player Amy Sanders. M. Shadows is married to Valary DiBenedetto, with whom he has two children. Valary’s sister, Michelle, is married to his bandmate Synyster Gates.
