Ray McKinnon is an American actor, screenwriter, film director, and producer. His roles include the films Driving Miss Daisy, Stephen King’s Needful Things, Apollo 13, O Brother, Where Art Thou?; The Blind Side, Take Shelter, and Ford v Ferrari, and the series Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, and Mayans M.C. He directed, wrote, and starred in the films Chrystal and Randy and the Mob, and created the show Rectify.

He is the son of Dorothy and Raymond Judson McKinnon. He was married to actress Lisa Blount, until her death.

Ray’s paternal grandfather was Hubert Raymond McKinnon (the son of William Henry McKinnon and Augustus Varnia Maude Smith).

Ray’s paternal grandmother was Susie Adelaide “Sadie” Groover (the daughter of Solomon Daniel Groover, Jr. and Ida Jane Groover). Solomon and Ida were both born with the same surname.

Ray’s maternal grandfather was William D. “Willie”/Willis Wilkes (the son of William Bryant Wilkes and Georgia Mae Giddens). William was born in Adel, Georgia. Ray’s great-grandfather William was the son of Archibald Duncan Wilkes, whose maternal grandparents were Scottish; and of Mary Ann Roberts.

Ray’s maternal grandmother was Kate Belle Shiver (the daughter of Ellis Jeremiah Shiver and Mary Verlon Dodd). Kate was born in Georgia.
