Patty Duke was an American actress. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Miracle Worker (1962).

Her father, John Patrick Duke, was of Irish descent. Her mother, Frances Margaret (McMahon), was of three quarters Irish and one quarter German descent.

Patty was married to drill sergeant Michael Pearce, until her death. She was the mother of actors Sean Astin (with her ex-husband, Michael Tell) and Mackenzie Astin (with her ex-husband, actor John Astin, who legally adopted Sean). She also had a son with Michael. Actress Ali Astin is her granddaughter.

Patty’s paternal grandfather was James Bartholomew Duke (the son of John Duke and Mary Sheridan). James was an Irish emigrant, from Longford.

Patty’s paternal grandmother was named Katherine/Catherine Ann O’Hara (the daughter of Michael O’Hara). Katherine was an Irish emigrant, from Longford.

Patty’s maternal grandfather was named Michael J. McMahon. Michael was born in New York, to Irish parents.

Patty’s maternal grandmother was Hannah Engleman/Ingleman/Ingelman (the daughter of George Washington Engelman and Elizabeth McGovern). Hannah was born in New York. George was born in Pennsylvania, the son of Israel Engelman and Helene Appel, who were of German descent. Elizabeth was born in Ireland, the daughter of John McGovern and Bridget Lynch.
