Nancy Meyers is an American director, screenwriter, and producer. She has directed the films The Parent Trap (1998), What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday, It’s Complicated, and The Intern (2015). She co-wrote her first film, and wrote her third, fourth, fifth, and sixth. She has also co-written the films Private Benjamin, Irreconcilable Differences, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Baby Boom, Father of the Bride (1991), Once Upon a Crime…, I Love Trouble, and Father of the Bride Part II (1995). She co-created the show Baby Boom, which she also wrote for. She has also been billed as Patricia Irving, from her parents’ first names.

Nancy is the daughter of Patricia, an interior designer and volunteer with the Head Start Program and the Home for the Blind; and Irving Meyers, a voting machines manufacturing executive. She was raised in the Drexel Hill area. Nancy has two children, Annie Meyers-Shyer and writer and director Hallie Meyers-Shyer, with her former husband, screenwriter, producer, and director Charles Shyer. Charles is also of Jewish heritage. Annie is married to Robby Koch, the uncle of actor Cooper Koch. Hallie wrote and directed the films Home Again and Goodrich.

Nancy’s maternal grandfather was Matthew August Lemisch (the son of Harry Millo Lemisch and Fannie August). Matthew was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Romanian Jewish parents.

Nancy’s maternal grandmother was Anna/Anne Fuhrman (the daughter of Nathan Fuhrman and Pauline Hittles). Anna was born in Pennsylvania, to Austrian Jewish parents.
