His father, Friedrich Joachim Michaeli, was ethnic German, from Świebodzin, Poland. His mother, Berit Marianne (Bolander), was Swedish, from Karlstad, Värmland. Mic has four children.

Mic’s paternal grandfather was Ernst Michaeli (the son of Wilhelm Michaeli and Emma Samson). Ernst was born in Świebodzin.
