That brainwashing that tells us that light skin is better, it’s subconsciously in us, whether we know it or not… I can identify with White people, because I know my mother, her side of the family, who I love. I’ve had White friends… But at the end of the day, I never felt White. I don’t know what that feels like. I can identify. But never have I felt like I’m one of them… I identify more with what I look like, because that’s how I got treated. Not necessarily in a negative way. But when you get pulled over by the police, I can’t pull out my half-White card. Or if I just meet you on the street, you’re not gonna be like, This guy seems half-White.

William was born in Michigan, to a father from Arkansas and a mother from Northern Ireland. Floyd was the son of Thomas J. Parkinson and Nora Howell. How do we know anything more about his mother’s ancestry than Northern Irish and English?

I think Floyd was the son of Thomas J. Parkinson and Nora Howell.

Isn’t the surname Loftus usually Irish? Not Scottish/Northern Irish.

CORRECTION: His mother is German http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Cole

I don’t know… the Wikipedia article cites a source that doesn’t mention that part.

Look in Early life. It says it.

For that claim, “the Wikipedia article cites a source that doesn’t mention that part”.

this is what is EXACTLY says under his Early Life. “Cole was born in the 97th General Hospital at a United States Army base in Frankfurt, West Germany.[2][3] His father is African-American and served in the United States Army,[4] and his mother is German.[5] At the age of 8 months, Cole relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he was raised by his mother, aunt and cousin. His father left the family when Cole was still young.[5] He has an older brother named Zach Cole.[6]”

Yes, I know. For the last time, the statement on Wikipedia is cited with a source, “5”, that doesn’t say his mother is German. The statement has no source.

His mother is originally from Michigan.

Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t read it clearly, but I’d assume she’s probably German. But not sure I guess now
