He has played with Yeşilyurt, Ülkerspor, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Tulsa 66ers, FC Barcelona, Anadolu Efes, the Detroit Pistons, the Orlando Magic, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Assocation (NBA). He is 6′9″.
He is said to have been born in Eskişehir, Turkey, to Crimean Tatar parents, Iraliye and Anvar İlyasova. He is married to Julia, with whom he has three children. Julia was born in Belarus.
Ersan is a Muslim.
Ersan is sometimes believed to have been born in 1984 in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, and to have migrated to Turkey as a teen. It is not clear if this is accurate.
Crimean Tatars are genetically related to the Turkish population.

I wouldn’t use the word indigenous for people who have been there less than 1000 years. Arabs have been in Africa longer than that and are still not considered indigenous. And Crimean Tatar is a Kipchak Turkic language, while Turkish is Oghuz. The only reason they are genetically connected is because both are in a large part descended from Greeks who had colonies in both Crimea and Asia Minor before Turkic peoole arrived there.
