Upsahl is an American singer and songwriter. She is the daughter of Lisa and Mike Upsahl, a veteran of tours that include Surf Through Death, High Horse, and the post-hardcore group Stereotyperider.

Upsahl’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to her fifth great-grandfather, Ole Ossofsen Kjelleberg.

Upsahl’s paternal grandfather is Paul LaVance Upsahl (the son of Ole, later Obe, Upsahl and Myrtle Julia Kjorvestad). Obe was of Norwegian descent, and was the son of Ole Olsen Upsahl and Margit Omlid. Myrtle was the daughter of Henry Kjorvestad, whose parents were Norwegian, and of a Norwegian emigrant, Alfa Susanna Brastad, of Ålesund, More og Romsdal.

Upsahl’s paternal grandmother is Rebecca Ann Geiger (the daughter of Admiral Geiger and Phoebe Margaret Kuehner). Admiral was the son of Canadian emigrants, Henry D. Geiger and Magdalena “Lena” Geiger, who were second cousins, from Zurich, Ontario. Phoebe was the daughter of a Canadian emigrant, Charles Howard Kuehner, of Southampton, Ontario, whose paternal grandparents, and mother, were German; and of Maude Ethel Clark, whose grandparents were all Northern Irish.

Upsahl’a maternal grandfather is William Landis “Bill” Kerlin (the son of Marvin Kisling Kerlin and Mary Elizabeth Kuhn). Marvin was the son of Marvin Price Kerlin and Rhoda Ann Kisling. Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of William Edward Kuhn, whose father, and maternal grandparents, were German; and of Nellie Chambers Stair.

Upsahl’s matrilineal ancestry can be traced back to her sixth great-grandmother, Mary Culbertson, of Ohio.
