Suzanne Somers was an American actress, author, singer, businessperson, and health and wellness spokesperson. She is known for starring on the sitcoms Three’s Company, as Chrissy, She’s the Sheriff, as Hildy, and Step by Step, as Carol. She promoted exercise device the ThighMaster. She also authored more than 25 books, in the self-help, diet, poetry, and autobiography, genres, and was known for her views on controversial alternative cancer treatments and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

Suzanne was the daughter of Marion Elizabeth, a medical secretary, and Francis Stanislaus “Frank” Mahoney, a laborer and gardener. She was of at least seven eighths Irish ancestry, including relatively recent immigrants.

Suzanne was married to Canadian-born entertainer, producer, and television host Alan Hamel, until her death. She had a son with her former husband Bruce Somers. Her granddaughters include actress Camelia Somers and Daisy Hamel-Buffa of the band DAISY.

Suzanne’s paternal grandfather was named Michael Cornelius Mahoney. Michael was born in Drimoleague, County Cork, Ireland.

Suzanne’s paternal grandmother was named Mary Agnes Sullivan (the daughter of a father surnamed Sullivan, and of Anna Donohue). Mary Agnes was born in California, to Irish parents.

Suzanne’s maternal grandfather was George Joseph Turner (the son of Robert Duplex Turner and Margaret Mullins). George was born in San Francisco, California, to parents from New York. Robert was the son of a father from Virginia, Charles Turner, and a mother from New York, Eliza Schuyler. Margaret was the daughter of Irish parents, from Cork, Dennis Mullins and Eliza Furlong.

Suzanne’s maternal grandmother was Nellie Bernadette/Bernadetta Keating (the daughter of Patrick Keating and Ellen O’Connor). Nellie was born in California, to Irish parents.

    Yes. The surname Turner is English. She’s not seven eights Irish.
