Robert Vaughn was an American actor.
He was the son of actors Marcella Frances (Gaudel), a stage actress, and Gerald Walter Vaughn, a radio actor. Robert was married to actress Linda Staab, until his death. The couple had two children, who were adopted.
Robert’s paternal grandfather was William W. Vaughn (the son of Steven B. Vaughn and Mary R. Wright). Steven was the son of Isaac Vaughn and Nancy Tripp. Mary was the daughter of Loomis Wright and Philinda Newman.
Robert’s paternal grandmother was named Mary Walter/Waltur.
Robert’s maternal grandfather was Frank S. Gaudel (the son of John P. Gaudel and Flora/Florentine Volkert). Frank was born in New York. John was of French and German descent, the son of Nicolas Philippe Gaudel and Marie Anne Becker. Flora was German, born in Mosbach, Baden, Germany, the daughter of Johann Andreas Volkert and Maria Margaretha Weber.

IMDB says that his father was born October 5, 1896 in Minnesota, as Gerald Oliver Vaughn. If that’s the case, then:

In his autobiography, A Fortunate Life (2008), Vaughn writes that his father, Gerald Walter Vaughn, died in Barbados in January 1950.
The Gerald Oliver Vaughn you mentioned died in California in 1989.

It seems that he was even married in California in 1973.
Strange, seeing that being an actor, I would’ve though IMDB would get his information right. But they do list his death year as 1950, despite that he died in 1989, so…
Anyway, Vaughn is a Welsh surname.
