Raphael Bob-Waksberg is an American comedian, writer, producer, actor, and voice actor. He is the creator and showrunner of animated show BoJack Horseman, and the co-creator of animated show Undone. He has written for both shows, as well as for Tuca & Bertie, and had voice roles on all of them.

His father, David Waksberg, was CEO of religious education center Jewish LearningWorks, and helped Russian-speaking Jews emigrate to the U.S. His mother and grandmother ran a Judaica gift and book store, Bob & Bob Fine Jewish Gifts and Books.

Raphael’s paternal grandfather was Irving Waksberg (the son of Harry “Herschel/Tzvi” Waksberg and Chana/Anna Kalichstein). Irving was born in New York. Harry was born in Poland, the son of Mendel Waksberg and Feigel Urbach. Chana was born in Kielce, Poland, the daughter of Moshe “Moishe” Kalichstein and a woman surnamed Rappaport.

Raphael’s paternal grandmother was Florence Gold (the daughter of Sam “Natanel” Gold and Rose “Raizel” Gross). Florence was born in New York, to parents from Poland.

Raphael’s maternal grandfather was Frederick Aaron Bob (the son of Max Bob and Florence “Fan” Goldfarb). Frederick was born in New York. Max was born in either New York or Russia, the son of Gedalia Bob and Ida Goldman. Florence was born in Russia.

Raphael’s maternal grandmother was Shirley Kaplan (the daughter of Samuel Kaplan and Rebecca “Betty” Gitlen). Shirley was born in New York, to parents from Russia. Samuel was the son of Lazar Kaplan and Julia Kaplan. Rebecca was the daughter of Morris Gitlen and Yetta Yazmer.
