Pharrell Williams
Birth Name: Pharrell Lanscilo Williams
Place of Birth: Virginia Beach, Virginia, U.S.
Date of Birth: April 5, 1973
Ethnicity: African-American
Pharrell Williams is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, and fashion designer. He is a member of the music duo The Neptunes, with Chad Hugo, and the rock band N.E.R.D, which also includes Chad. He is also known as Pharrell, Skateboard P, Sk8board, Auto Goon, Magnum, the Verb Lord; and Station Wagon P.
His parents, Carolyn L. (Hoggard) and Pharoah Williams, Jr., are both African-American. Pharrell is married to model Helen Lasichanh, with whom he has four children. He is said to be a cousin of musician, record producer, and DJ Timbaland.
Pharrell’s paternal grandfather was Pharoah/Pharaoh Williams, Sr. (the son of Cato Thomas Williams and Ora Cooper). Pharrell’s grandfather Pharoah was born in North Carolina. Cato was the son of Fenner Williams and Martha Alford. Fenner’s parents, Louis May and Louisa, were slaves, and Fenner likely also was born into slavery.
Pharrell’s paternal grandmother was Carol Lee “Carrie” Sills/Sears (the daughter of Mark Stamper Sills and Rebecca O’Niel/O’Neal). Carrie was born in North Carolina. Mark was the son of Ed Sills and Lucy Stamp. Rebecca was the daughter of Rufus O’Niel and Joanna Allen.
Pharrell’s maternal grandfather was Cleon Dorson Hoggard, Sr. (the son of James Edward Hoggard and Emma Edwards).
Pharrell’s maternal grandmother was Lucille Sarah Johnson (the daughter of Lee Edward Johnson and Sarah F. Lamb/Lambe).
An article published at “Diary of a Hollywood Street King” claimed that Pharrell’s mother is Filipino. This information is not accurate. Pharrell’s mother is African-American, and is pictured at the bottom right of this page. Also, for whatever reason, Ebony.com stated that Pharrell is of part Laotian descent. They may have confused Pharrell’s mother with Pharrell’s wife, Helen Lasichanh, who is of part Laotian descent.

all colors comes from genetic mutation occurred in different part of world..
there is no color in humans we are all different shade of Brown. there is more to a race than skin color.
skin colors is very superficial thing.
example- some white people look yellow some very pale. or olive skin..
Asian- Chinese n Japanese are very pale but others group of Asian specially who lives in south like south east Asian look darker ( I, e- Malaysia Filipino Thailand)
the some of the black tribe in Africa have blonde hair blue eye. but they are genetically is different then the African living in America. African have tallest people and have shortest people in the world.
like African pygmies..
there are blonde tribe in northern Pakistan(Google pushtun) but you won’t see pakistani claiming their European features.
because pakistani knows that a 100% pure paki cannot products blonde hair.
similarly
their are blonde tribe in remote part of China
but you won’t see Asian claiming the European features because they know that they genetically distant /different then the main line Chinese.
Why are you addressing this me? I know all about races and I’m very interested in dna and genetics. All I’ve said was that Pharrell Williams doesn’t appear to have a Filippino mother.
Just to pick up on something you said there are no African tribes with blond hair and blue eyes. Africa does have the greatest genetic diversity but that hasn’t anything to do with pigment traits. Some Pakistanis do have blond hair and blue eyes. The same with Mongolian people. The gene mutations for blond hair and blue eyes occurred after people left Africa. Do a search on google if you want to look into it. Some Oceanic tribes can have blond hair but the gene is different than the one in Europeans /or Caucasions.
He looks mixed to me. His nose is not like most black people’s noses. I would bet that he has white, Native American, and Asian in him. He doesn’t look like your average African American.
Lmao that’s ignorant to say. Not every black person is look “black”, there’s diversity amongst every racial group.
*is gonna look “black”
Full blooded blacks do not look like Pharell. He’s obviously part white somewhere down the line. People in Africa don’t look like him. He’s mostly black but clearly has substantial non-black admixture. You don’t need a DNA test to tell that;it’s obvious. It’s probably nothing more ‘exotic’ than white.
People in Africa have very diverse features. Kenyans can have short pointy noses, Fulani people have elongated faces sometimes and beak like noses and some people in the Sudan can be near pitch black with dark blue eyes. Not to mention the reddish skin and somewhat Asian features of the San people.
No,he looks a black man with asian or native american ancestry and distant european. Is kinda silly compare celebrities with average people.Pharrell may be using makeup in this pic for example.
My nose is straight and pointy and I’m not mixed.. god ignorance. When all people come from black roots. Black people can look anyway. that’s why people always want half black babies smh
I have no idea what you look like but people who are actually fully black don’t just happen to occasionally pop up looking vaguely mixed. The fact that someone has no known “white” ancestors is meaningless, because many “black” people in the US and Caribbean have significant white ancestry. They still look more black than anything else because -surprise surprise- they ARE more black than anything else. However, when two blacks with white ancestry have a kid, the kid has a much higher chance of genetically encoded caucasian features being manifest in their appearance. This is why you sometimes see a couple that don’t look particularly ‘mixed’ have a kid with surprisingly caucasianesque features (lighter skin tone, ‘good hair’, small nose, etc.).
There are no people who are parented by people who are 100% black who by sheer random weirdness have a kid that looks ‘mixed’. That’s nonsense.
“There is no people who are parented by people who are 100% black who by sheer random wierdness have a kid that looks “mixed”” Two examples, a few years ago a Nigerian couple living in England gave birth to a seemingly “white” baby non-albino with blue eyes. In 1955 “white” South African couple give birth to a seemingly biracial child named Sandra Lange. Sandra’ s biopic is called “Skin”. Please describe what a fully black person looks like.
Try having a “straight” nose, semi-curly hair and very fair skin. I caught HELL growing up when it came to the “legitimacy” of my Blackness. And both of my parents are Black. It’s just disgusting. -_-
Orbital- No offense to you, but obviously you have to be part White in order to have those features. You have good hair and mixed race features. I can assure you that if you were to take a DNA test, you would have a lot of White ancestry. Why do you hate White people so much? You should be glad you have nice features thanks to us. Not being racist bwt*
This statement is so incredibly racist. There’s no such thing as “good hair”… and saying stuff like “you should be glad to have nice features thanks to us” thanks to you for what?? raping black people when they were slaves in america???
yes, totally agree with you
God, you guys are all fucking stupid. African-Americans are a majority of the time, mixed. We are mixed because of slavery. I am mixed, but I am African-American and you will not tell me otherwise.
Another stupid thing I wanted to point out…high cheekbones means they’re mixed with Asian or native american? are you stupid? Have you not seen the black people from east Africa? the ones from Somali and Ethiopia? their fucking cheekbones are on their eyes they’re so goddamn high.
You guys need to stop generalizing people, especially black people. We’re one of the most genetically diverse group of people on this planet, we don’t all look the same and we don’t all have just one feature.
Pharrell’s parents are both AFRICAN-AMERICAN, get over it and shut the fuck up.
You all act like being just black is a bad thing, sorry, but we’re attractive too.
could you please explain to me, out of the 42million plus African Americans in this country, that you or anyone else knows what the avg one looks like.I ‘be been around them my entire life, and couldn’t tell you that
His mother Caroline Williams is from the Philippines. She was Miss Asia Pacific in 1971. He is half Filipino and half African Ametican.
Miss Asia Pacific 1971 was Miss Guam Flora Baza so that information is not correct.
She was a pageant. She didn’t win but represented the Philippines in 1971.

My information is right.
That’s a different woman than what Black Woman posted. There is obviously some misinformation going around about Pharrell Williams.
Well he says he is African American so it’s what he wants
Lying!
Liar
Who is your post directed to? I don’t think anyone is lying. There does seem to be a lot of confusion about his mother.
Of course he is part native american or asian.Look at his cheekbones and eyes
Yes, I agree.
When a black man looks presentable (unusual for a black), then black people claims he’s totally black and their people also possess these feature (straight hair, colored eye)
All colors come from black. If you read a book you’d know there are African with colored eyes and straight hair. its sad that people think that equals beauty. When certain ideas or beauty are forced you know its untrue
