He is the son of Jane and Ronald Brown, who is a producer and writer.

Peter’s paternal grandfather was William Farrar Brown (the son of the George Edward Brown and Georgia Farrar). William was born in New Hampshire. George was the son of George Washington Brown and Jessie Ellen McElwain. Georgia was the daughter of Horatio Nelson Farrar and Martha Laura Minter.

Peter’s paternal grandmother was Marilyn Elizabeth MacLeod (the daughter of Oliver Carl MacLeod and Emma Nilsson). Marilyn was born in Massachusetts. Oliver was the son of a Scottish father, Alexander MacLeod, and of a Swedish mother, Hedvig E. Neilson. Peter’s great-grandmother Emma was born in Sweden, the daughter of Nils Anton Bertilsson and Amalia Josefina Anderson.
