Patricia Altschul is an American socialite, television personality, philanthropist, and art dealer and collector. She is known for her role on the reality show Southern Charm. She has renovated the historic Isaac Jenkins Mikell House, which she owns, in Charleston, South Carolina. She is also a trustee of nonprofit organizations the New York Historical Society and Historic Hudson Valley.

Patricia is the daughter of Frances Pearl and Walter Pettus Dey, a medical doctor. Her father was born in Dallas, Texas. Her mother was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was married to banker Arthur Altschul, until his death; Arthur was a descendant of Mayer Lehman, of the Lehman brothers. She has a son, Whitney Sudler-Smith, with her former husband L. Hayes Smith. Whitney is a filmmaker, television director, and classically trained guitarist, and has also been featured on Southern Charm, as well as producing the show.

Patricia’s paternal grandfather was Frank Edgar Dey (the son of John Dey and Jane S. Ward). Frank was born in Newark, New Jersey. He fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy. John was born in New Jersey, and was of Dutch descent. Jane, also born in New Jersey, was of English descent, the daughter of Isaac Ward and Joanna Munn.

Patricia’s paternal grandmother was Frances Carolyne/Carolyn Malvina Day (the daughter of William Day and Mariah Davidson). Carolyne was born in Sumter County, Alabama, to parents who were born in North Carolina, and were most likely of predominantly English descent.

Patricia’s maternal grandfather was James Joshua Wilkinson (the son of George William Wilkinson and Ellen Julia Gaffney). James was born in Park River, North Dakota, to parents from Ontario, Canada. George was the son of Joshua Wilkinson and Barbara Ramey, who had English, German, and Dutch roots, from the American colonies. Ellen was the daughter of James Warren Gaffney, who was from County Antrim, Ireland, and of Mary Ann Sheehan, who was from either Upper Canada, or Ireland.

Patricia’s maternal grandmother was Amanda Sudler (the daughter of William Sudler and Mollie Guessford). Amanda was born in Sudlersville, Maryland. Mollie was born in Delaware, the daughter of John Guessford and Amanda Green, who was also born in Maryland. They were of at least part English descent.
