P. J. Patterson is a Jamaican politician. He served as Prime Minister of Jamaica, from 30 January, 1992 to 30 January, 2005. He was also Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, from 1978 to 1980, Deputy Prime Minister of Jamaica, from 1978 to 1980, and again from February 1989 to January 1992, and Minister of Defence, from 30 January, 1992 to 30 January, 2005.

P. J. is the son of Ina (James), a teacher, and Henry Patterson, a farmer. He was married to Shirley Field-Ridley, until her death, with whom he had two children.
