Neal Schon is an American rock guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist. He is known for his work with the bands Journey, Bad English, Santana, and Hardline. Steve Perry, and, later, Arnel Pineda, have also been members of Journey. Carlos Santana is also a member of Santana.
Neal is the son of Barbara, a big band singer, and Matthew Schon, who was a big band musician, arranger, and composer. His father played and taught reed instruments with emphasis on jazz tenor saxophone. His paternal grandparents were ethnic German emigrants, from what is now Serbia. His maternal grandparents were Italian. Neal was raised in San Mateo, California.
Neal is married to television personality and model Michaele Salahi.
Neal’s paternal grandfather was named George Schön. George was born in Palánka, Austria-Hungary.
