Good question. Pargätzi surname is of Rhaeto-Romance origin. All the Grisons area (Romansh hotbed) have been heavily Germanized though I believe his ancestors spoke German despite being culturally Romansh.

This is very interesting. This is my first time hearing about the Romansh connection. I think whenever he’s addressed this he’s mostly said he was Italian or at least thought he was. But this would make more sense.
