Martijn Westerholt is a Dutch musician. He is the keyboardist, founder, and songwriter of symphonic metal band Delain. He was previously the keyboardist of symphonic metal band Within Temptation. His Within Temptation bandmates included his older brother Robert Westerholt and Sharon den Adel, who are married.

He is the son of Greetje Boompaal and Andries Westerholt.

Martijn’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his seventh great-grandfather, Hendrik Heerdink.

Martijn’s paternal grandfather was Jan Willem “Wim” Westerholt (the son of Andries Westerholt and Annechien Lindeman). Wim was born in Zutphen, Gelderland. Andries was the son of Reinierus Pieter Westerholt and Alberta van Vemde. Annechien was the daughter of Jan Lindeman, who was of part German descent, and of Trientje Niezen.

Martijn’s paternal grandmother was Gosina Antoinetta “Ina” de Vreede (the daughter of Cornelis Marinus de Vreede and Antoinetta Wilhelmina Gosina Kluin). Ina was born in Zutphen, Gelderland. Cornelis was the son of Hubertus Martinus de Vreede, who was of part Flemish descent, and of Everdina Elisabeth van Haaren. Martijn’s great-grandmother Antoinetta was the daughter of Goossen Anthon Kluin and Adriana Nijdeken.
