Marta Suplicy is a Brazilian politician and psychologist. She served as Mayor of São Paulo from 2001 to 2004, and as Brazilian Minister of Tourism between 2007 and 2008.

She is the daughter of Noêmia Fracalanza and Luís Affonso Smith de Vasconcellos. She has three children with her former husband, politician, economist, and professor Eduardo Suplicy. Among their children is musician Supla.

Marta’s paternal grandfather was Jaime Luís Smith de Vasconcellos (the son of Baron Rodolfo Smith de Vasconcellos and Eugênia Virgínia Ferreira Felício). Jaime was born in Rio de Janeiro. Marta’s great-grandfather Baron Rodolfo was born in Fortaleza, Ceará, the son of José Smith de Vasconcelos, who was born in Lisbon, Portugal, to a Portuguese father and to an English mother, from Worcester, Worcestershire; and of Francisca Carolina Mendes da Cruz Guimarães, who was Brazilian.
