He took over as President upon John F. Kennedy’s death.
President Johnson also served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas, from April 10, 1937 to January 3, 1949, a U.S. Senator from Texas, from January 3, 1949 to January 3, 1961, Senate Majority Whip, from January 3, 1951 to January 3, 1953, Senate Minority Leader, from January 3, 1953 to January 3, 1955, and Senate Majority Leader, from January 3, 1955 to January 3, 1961.
He was a Presidential candidate of the Texas delegation at the Democratic Party’s national convention in 1956, a candidate for the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 1960, and also participated in the Democratic Party’s Presidential primaries in 1968.
He was Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for 1964 and 1967.
President Johnson was the son of Rebekah (Baines) and Samuel/Sam Ealy Johnson, Jr. He was married to Lady Bird Johnson (born Claudia Alta Taylor), until his death, with whom he had two children.
His father was a member of the Christadelphian Church.
President Johnson’s paternal grandfather was Samuel Ealy “Sam” Johnson (the son of Jesse Johnson and Lucy Barnett). Samuel was born in Randolph County, Alabama. Jesse was the son of John Johnson III and Ann Ealy/Eley. Lucy was the daughter of Leonard Barnett and Nancy Statham.
President Johnson’s paternal grandmother was Eliza Jane Bunton (the daughter of Robert Holmes Bunton and Priscilla Jane McIntosh). Eliza was born in Kentucky, likely near Russellville, Logan. Robert was the son of Joseph Bunton and Phoebe Desha. Priscilla was the daughter of John McIntosh and Julia Miller.
President Johnson’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Wilson Baines (the son of The Rev. George Washington Baines and Melissa Ann Butler). Joseph was born in Mount Lebanon, Bienville, Louisiana. The Rev. George was the son of Thomas Baines and Mary McCoy. He was a Baptist clergyman, who pastored eight churches in Texas, as well as others in Arkansas and Louisiana, and was the president of Baylor University, during the American Civil War. Melissa was the daughter of Nealy/Nealey Butler and Amy Ogier/Ozier, who was born in South Carolina, to an English father, from London, who was of French descent.
President Johnson’s maternal grandmother was Ruth Ament Huffman (the daughter of John Smith Huffman, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth/Elisabeth Perrin). Ruth was born in Texas. John was the son of John Smith Huffman and Susan/Suzanne/Susanna/Susannah Ament, who were of German, and some Swiss-German, descent. Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of William Perrin and Dycie/Dicea/Dycea Kirby/Kerbey.
President Johnson’s matrilineal line can be traced to his great-great-great-grandmother Helen (Eleanor) Jameson, who was born, c. 1775, possibly in Virginia.
There are claims on the internet that President Johnson had Jewish heritage through his mother’s line. This is not accurate. President Johnson, himself, referred to German (non-Jewish) ancestors named Hoffman who left Germany in 1848; this is partly accurate, as his family line is generally named Huffman, and actually arrived in the United States in the mid 1700s.

btw does Josette Halpert have any Jewish ancestry?
Yes, she’s Jewish.
Okay please confirm the submission of her and also Steven Crowder I would love to see added to ethnic celebs please.
Steven Crowder? The Jew-hater?
I’ve never heard him being accused of hating Jews? I actually have heard people say he has said things anti-Muslim though (not saying that it is any better). I believe you though, but mind showing his anti-Jewish comments?

Oh, and if you notice, Crowder also whitewashes Sean Penn’s Jewish heritage in that article. But that’s par for the course for the North American mainstream media, etc., etc.
Looks more Semitic or Med.
Actually yea I can see that. maybe black Irish possibly as well
There’s no such ethnicity as “Black Irish”. Besides, he wasn’t of Irish descent.
Out of all the 2016 presidential candidates I could see a semitic or med look in Scott Kevin Walker ;-)
Jon Huntsman, although not 2016.
Jon Huntsman more than Scott Walker? I usually agree with you but not sure about this one.
Definitely Huntsman for me. According to Bill Maher, Scott Walker looks like the boy from Deliverance.
I personally don’t think Jon Huntsman looks “Mediterranean”, let alone “Semitic”. Johnson looks a bit like former French President Chirac, with a bigger nose though.
Jon Huntsman is of partial Scandinavian ancestry, and he does look like Alicia Vikander, as does his daughter, Abigail Huntsman.
Huntsman reminds me of Michael Oren, although Huntsman is more exotic-looking.
Huntsman has the good look of a soap opera actor, he’s wasted as politician.
P.S. : can you add Nancy Marchand?
Huntsman was my favorite of the 2012 candidates. He could have a comeback yet.
Why don’t you want to add Nancy yourself?
@follers
I asked you to add her because you’re more accurate. If I remember well from my researches, she had English and German ancestry, possibly even recent.
Why not Black Scottish, since you say he came from Scotland?

President Lyndon B. Johnson is part Welsh, Dr. Joseph Wheeler born in 1701 (Johnson’s fifth time great grandfather). Also Johnson’s six time great grandfather David Kelso was born in Scotland in 1678. Lastly, Peter Bieber was born in 1687 in France, Johnson’s 6th great grandfather.
Peter Bieber was an ethnic German from Alsace.
Also shouldn’t every celebrity on this website who is Scotch-Irish also have Scottish as an ethnicity as well being that the term means people from Ulster Ireland who trace their roots to settlers from Scotland?
Kinda harsh thing for Bill Maher to say I actually know some woman who find Walker very attractive.
Relax if you don’t think they look alike that is fine.
Sorta resembles Bill Murray
