Larry Hogan is an American politician. A Republican, he has served as Governor of Maryland, from January 21, 2015 to January 18, 2023. He was previously Vice Chair of the National Governors Association, from July 21, 2018 to July 26, 2019, and Chair of the National Governors Association, from July 26, 2019 to August 5, 2020.

Larry is the son of Nora Elizabeth (Maguire) and Lawrence Hogan (Lawrence Joseph Hogan), a Republican politician, who was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland, from January 3, 1969 to January 3, 1975. Larry’s half-brother, Patrick N. Hogan, is also a politician, who was a Member of the Maryland House of Delegates. Larry was raised in Landover, Maryland, and then Florida.

Larry is married to artist Yumi (Kim) Hogan. Yumi was born in Naju, South Korea.

Larry’s paternal grandfather was Alexander Joseph Hogan (the son of William Joseph Hogan and Bridget Josephine Donnelly). Alexander was born in Massachusetts, to parents from Newfoundland, Canada. William was born in Carbonear, the son of Alexander Hogan and Catherine, who were Irish.
