Laidback Luke is a Filipino-Dutch DJ and music producer. He is also known as LBL and Dark Chanell.

He is the son of Lucy and Kees van Scheppingen. He was raised in Hoofddorp, Netherlands. Luke has said on Twitter that he is of half Dutch and half Filipino descent. He has also stated that his mother originally spoke Visaya, but that she speaks Tagalog now, after relocating to Manila. The Visayan languages are a group of Austronesian languages spoken in the southern parts of the Philippines. Luke has said that he was never taught Tagalog, but that he has taken courses in the language.

Luke is married to Ashley Reina van Scheppingen, and has three children.
