Judy Garland was an American singer, actress, and vaudevillian.
Judy was the daughter of Ethel Marian/Marion (Milne) and Francis Avent “Frank” Gumm. She had a daughter, actress and singer Liza Minnelli, with her former husband, director Vincente Minnelli; and two children, Joey Luft and actress and singer Lorna Luft, with her former husband, tour manager and producer Sidney Luft.
Judy’s paternal grandfather was William Tecumseh Gumm (the son of John Alexander Gum and Martha Wade). William was born in Rutherford County, Tennessee. John was the son of William Norton Gum and Margaret Ward.
Judy’s paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Clementine “Clemmie” Baugh (the daughter of John Aldridge Baugh and Mary Ann Marable). Clementine was born in Rutherford County, Tennessee. John was the son of Richard Baugh and Elizabeth Pepper Harwell/Hartwell/Haskel. Mary Ann was the daughter of Benjamin Marable and Lucy Barner.
Judy’s maternal grandfather was John Milne (the son of Charles Milne and Mary Kelso). John was born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, to Scottish parents, his father from Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and his mother from Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. Charles was the son of Alexander Milne and Jean Lovie.
Judy’s maternal grandmother was Evelyn M. “Eva” Fitzpatrick (the daughter of Hugh Fitzpatrick and Mary Elizabeth Harriott/Harriet). Evelyn was born in Massena, St. Lawrence, New York, to a Canadian father of Irish descent, who was from Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, and to a mother from Dublin, Fingal, Ireland. Hugh was the son of Hugh Fitzpatrick and Margaret Ross.

I have gone back on judy’s family tree. She is not french or german at all. Gumm may sound german, but am sure it can be english.
Judy was irish, scottish and possibly english. Irish/scottish on mother’s side(mother’s maiden name was milne) and possibly english on her father’s side. Her maternal grandmother was a ‘fitzpatrick’ which is an irish surname. Some of judy’s ancestors came from ireland :)
