Yes, and fairly rare in Republic of Ireland. Biggest density is in Northern Ireland, outside Great Britain. But Kavanagh is very Irish.
I’m not denying the Kavanagh is Irish, but I wonder how far back his Bellingham lines goes, there? It’s an unusual last name for him not to have any relatively recent English ancestry, I’d think.
