Jean Castex is a French politician. He served as Prime Minister of France, from 3 July, 2020 to 16 May, 2022. He has also been Mayor of Prades, Pyrénées-Orientales, from 18 March, 2008 to 3 July, 2020, Deputy Secretary General of the Presidency, from 28 February, 2011 to 15 May, 2012, and President of Conflent Canigó in the Community of Communes, from 7 January, 2015 to 3 July, 2020.
He is the son of Nicole Andrée Berthe (Fontanier) and Claude Castex. Prime Minister Castex is married to Sandra Ribeylague, with whom he has four daughters.
Prime Minister Castex’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his fifth great-grandfather, Bernard Castex.
Prime Minister Castex’s paternal grandfather was Marc Claude Albert Castex (the son of René François Castex and Marie Félicie Eugénie Paveillac). Marc, who was born in Marambat, Gers, was a Senator, representing Gers. René was the son of Paul Castex and Marie Anne Gélas. Félicie was the daughter of Joseph Paveillac and Marie Dautin.
