Ian Curtis was an English musician, singer, and songwriter. He was the lead singer, guitarist, and lyricist of post-punk band Joy Division.

Ian was the son of Doreen M. and Ernest Kevin Curtis. He grew up in a working-class household in Macclesfield. He was married to Deborah Woodruff, until his death, with whom he had a daughter.

Ian’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Robert Curtis (the son of James Curtis and Mary Hanley). James was from Kilmaloge, County Tipperary, Ireland, the son of James Curtis. Mary was born in Cambridgeshire.

Ian’s paternal grandmother was Ellen/Nellie McGee (the daughter of John McGee and Ann McEvay). Ellen was born in Manchester, Lancashire, England. John was Irish.

Ian’s maternal grandfather was Lesley Hughes (the son of James Henry Hughes and Priscilla Valentine). Lesley was born in Salford, Lancashire, England.
