why do people find it so hard to believe that white people can have tight curled hair? why do they always have to be mixed with some sort of african? smh

  2. erikalicious says:

Nappy hair is not curly hair! Just saying…..

    • Mariposa says:

The definition of kinky hair is tightly curled. The nappier the hair the less curl definition. But it does have curl pattern, that comes out at times. It is sometimes a crimped or z shape or s shape.

The only mixing that was going on in Spain was between Moors, Berbers and Spanish peoples before….more than 700 years or so? And notice, it was only in the very South of Spain (Andalusia). The Moors couldn’t get to Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galicia, most of Aragon, Asturias etc. The Basque Origin is still a mystery. However, I suspect Basque have many things in common with Celts (mainly the Irish today) in traditions, looks, facial appearance, food, colours. The Basques MIGHT BE related to the Celts, but we still don’t know. The Galicians, however are 100% related to the Celts. There are many Gypsys in Spain and only native Spaniard can tell them apart from regular Spaniards. Believe me,I’ve tried to tell a gypsy, and I failed. The gypsyes, however, are again in the South. Galicia doesn’t have any Gypsyes or Moorish influence. Galicians are often called the ”English of Spain”. There is a reason for that. Andalusia, in the south, had very strong Moorish influence long time ago and today it’s a home to a lot of gypsies. People get conclusion about Spaniards mainly based on the looks of Antonio Banderas, who’s extremely tanned Andalus, but is actually white, and P.Cruz who’s actually half Gypsy. Spaniards are not Mexicans, Gypsyes, Arabs, Berbers and whatever’s on your mind. Spaniards are after all white people who happen to be olive-skinned because live in the south of Europe near the Med Sea. They are not mestizos, unlike 90% of the Mexicans. Spaniards are white, and I happened to see many blonde people in both the north and south. If you see a Spaniard and compare him to Gypsy or Mexican, he will laugh at you, and will be insulted. Gypsyes are not Spaniards, and neither are Mexicans. There are just many Gypsys living in Spain these days, but this doesn’t mean Spaniards have moorish or gypsy genes. If something, Portugal has actually some black genes, pretty much for European country. Spain doesn’t have these black genes. Spain is just on the Med, and that’s why people have darker skin, but not black or arab!!!!

Romans, Greeks, Celts, Muslims (black, white, & brown), and Romani gypsies (East Indian) lived in Spain. Yes there was mixing. You sound very much in denial. Blacks are mentioned througout ancient spanish literature. Gypsies are Spanish, because they settled in Spain, and have been there a very, very long time. Many have assimilated into Spanish society. If Gypsies are not Spanish, then neither is Flamenco. When the Romans regained control, you had to convert to Catholoscim, leave, or be killed. The Moors went further North/NE to a region of Spain for an additional 300 years before conceding. Some of these groups left, some converted, and some were killed. You are right, that Spaniards are not necessarily the same as Latin Americans. You can blame latin americans of mixed, native, or african descent who call themselves spanish. Some Latin Americans may be only spanish, but I think this is rare except for a few countries. Spaniards are white, because most dark skinned people have blended out due to miscegenation. Many of the people in Spain who still call themselves gitanos are mixed.

    • betsy says:

do you think basque people are mixed with moor people?

the northern part of spain was lightly touched by arabics, maybe just the mixture of the arabics with the spanish/celtics people….
so yes, dark people from spain maybe have moor ancestry, but i hesitate about the light skinned/eyed/haired ones.

      • Mariposa says:

The Basque are their own people. They are very misterious, in that not that much about their ancestry is known. People have guessed about the root of their language, but it isn’t known for sure.
