Gabriela Michetti is an Argentine politician. She has served as Vice President of Argentina, since December 10, 2015. She has also been Deputy Chief of Government of the City of Buenos Aires, from 10 December, 2007 to 20 April, 2009, and National Senator of Argentina from Buenos Aires, from 10 December, 2013 to 11 February, 2016, among other duties.
Gabriela is the daughter of Martha Renée Illia and Mario Óscar Michetti. She is the grandniece of Arturo Illia (Arturo Umberto Illia Francesconi), who served as President of Argentina, from 12 October, 1963 to 28 June, 1966. Gabriela has a son with her former husband, journalist Eduardo Cura.
She has stated:
All my grandparents and great-grandparents were Italian. Their surnames were Michetti, Illia, Ferri, Del Giorgio, Marucci, Scuffi, Borsi, Copari.
Gabriela’s paternal grandfather was named Alfredo Michetti. Alfredo was from Macerata, Marche, Italy.
Gabriela’s paternal grandmother was named María Estela Ferri. María was from Macerata.
Gabriela’s maternal grandfather was named José “Pepe” Illia (the son of Juan Inocencio Illia). Juan was the son of Italian emigrants, Innocente Illia (later Inocencio Illia) and Costantina del Giorgio, of Samolaco, Province of Sondrio, Lombardy.
Gabriela’s maternal grandmother was named María del Giorgio.
