Fionnula Flanagan is an Irish actress. Her roles include the films Ulysses (1967), Mr. Patman, James Joyce’s Women (1985), Youngblood (1986), Some Mother’s Son, Waking Ned, The Others, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Tears of the Sun, Four Brothers, Yes Man, The Invention of Lying, Disney’s A Christmas Carol (2009), Kill the Irishman, The Guard (2011), Song of the Sea, Birthmarked, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and the series Lost.

Fionnula is the daughter of Rosanna (McGuirk) and Terence Niall Flanagan, who was an Irish Army officer. Her father was a Communist, and fought in the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War. She was raised speaking Gaelic and English. She was also educated in Switzerland and England. Fionnula was married to Irish nationalist Garrett O’Connor, until his death.
