Max was the son of Emanuel Berg and Kate Feverstun. Alice was the daughter of William H. Aldridge and Minnie E. Kane, which fits with this census where Courtney lived with his grandparents Charles Kinsky and Minnie (Charles was a step-grandfather).

I suspect there is some adoption/foster parent story on his dad’s side. Vianes Garduno and Janice Green married 16 years before Emjay’s father was born and their daughter Sherry was born three years after the marriage.

I’m not sure how her son got the surname Salazar. Maybe Tony Salazar is his biological father. Sheri Terumi Ono, a Japanese woman, is likely not Emjay’s grandmother.
